Step into the world of Snakes of Russia, a brainchild of LA-based Joseph Holiday. Picture this: Distorted soundscapes, pulsating basslines, and an irresistible sonic force that sends your imagination soaring. Affectionately described as ‘Death Beats’ by Snakes of Russia himself, it is electronic music that feels timeless yet totally now.

Joseph kicked off his journey with the ‘At Home Alone With Lions’ EP in 2020, a tantalizing glimpse of what was to come. The aftermath? Remixes, film collaborations, and sound design gigs for Ableton and Spitfire Audio.

Everything paved the road for his debut LP release, which now takes center stage: “True Surrender”. Snakes of Russia teamed up with renowned metal producer Kurt Ballou. The creative fusion happened at the iconic God City studio in Salem, MA, where they embarked on a sonic adventure towards a heavier, more textured sound. Synths weaving through guitar amps, drum machines roaring through speakers – a symphony of pure analog force.

While the creative journey took off at God City, Joseph Holiday’s home studio in Los Angeles played an integral role in refining and completing the mixing and production stages. The musical culmination got its final touch with Justin Weis at Trakworx Mastering in San Francisco, ensuring that every sonic contour and emotional essence were impeccably preserved.

“TRUE SURRENDER” drops on Friday, October 13, 2023, via Modularfield (Rough Trade Distribution) – A brute sonic journey that tears down the acoustic borders between digital and analog and hits like a tidal wave.

As Snakes of Russia, Los Angeles based producer Joseph Holiday works hazy dark sound design, low end rumble and rolling downtempo beats into tracks that evoke a dystopian landscape…creating cinematic instrumental electronic music that feels as timeless as it does current.

His debut EP “At Home Alone With Lions” came in early 2020, followed by remixes, film work, sound design projects for Ableton and Spitfire Audio, and a collaboration with Berlin based artist Robot Koch.
